This is my first question as an MB owner, though a few months ago I got some great advice here about buying my first Merc. Well I did it, and am delighted with my T-reg C220CDi - except for the stereo.
It has a Panasonic radio/single CD player which I assume has replaced the original unit at some point. It has all the features you expect, RDS etc, but it looks totally wrong for the car and the sound has no guts. Would I notice the difference if I replaced it or is this down to the (presumably original) speakers? Is there a decent Blaupunkt or similar or even an MB own brand which wouldn't break the bank. And what are my options for a dashboard-mounted autochanger?

As usual, replies gratefully received!

Nakamichi make a MB-75 which is a 6 disc in dash DIN sized autochanger. Very good, and you can pick them up off German Ebay for < £200. Anything from Nak. is good and you'll notice a definite improvement replacing the head unit and even more if you go for some decent component speakers and dedicated amplifiers. Depends on how much you can afford to spend.
