You are loosing drive,,it could be low on fluid, if not this then get it plugged into STAR and have the codes read out

Get it checked ASAP.

A replacement gearbox is an expensive business.

It could be low on oil, as Malcom said.

If not - do yo have a valeo radiator fitted? Worth getting a glycol test performed.

slipping box

If the box was very low on fluid it has been flaring up or slipping while in gear then as it picks up some fluid , "normally due to the angle of the car changing" ie. slowing down, it will drive again re-engage gear . get the box serviced properly with new filter fitted and correct merc oil!and put on star machine to check systems, its your only hope and dont kick down it puts enormous strain on the box! best of luck. oh and look for a leak if its lost that much!

That's good news. Did he have to change both parts? What sort of cost was it?

Not too bad a price, most indies charge circa £325 for the plate and fluid, plus the cost of the pilot bush
