Auto box Question

Hi Everybody, Just joined the forum this week and i am very impressed with the great info thats on here! Just bought a 2000 model E320CDI and love it, allthough it seems a bit thirsty, allready had the ABS BAS problems and have fitted new switch today so will see how it goes from now, also had to buy a new battery today ouch! Question for you is can you drain and refill the Auto box? and does it have a filter? many thanks Dave

Hi Dave and welcome, the box should be drained every 40-60k miles along with a new filter, there is the DIY section that covers this and your car

Many thanks Malcolm, for that, some other little problem has shown up today,the windows are behaving odd, will only work on the switch if you hold it all the time, will not go straight down with one push if you understand, could this be anything to do with replacing the battery yesterday?

With key in position 2 hold the switch down for 10 sec in the downward mode, and the same in the upward mode and they will be re set

Auto box re-fill

Right, From reading the different threads about draining and re-filling the auto box on a 2000 model E320cdi, can you or cant you? Im going to Berlin next week for a stay with my sister and have been told by a merc friend that in Germany you can buy a kit comprising dipstick etc, anybody shed any light on this? Cheers Dave
