Auto Dimming Rvm Option W202

Hi,
I have a Mercedes Accessories catalogue dated approx. 2000, in this there is auto-dimming Rear View Mirrors listed. I seem to remember reading on another forum that you just plugged them into the overhead lighting console. Can anybody confirm this?
There 2 part numbers for the black version
Up to 05/97 B6 681 8605 £123.47
From 06/97 (Saloon only) B6 681 8609 £142.65
I presume the difference in the mirrors is the red and green L.E.D.s fitted in the earlier models. These mirrors also "apparently" fit the W210 E-Class as well.
Has any body else fitted auto dimming in this manner?

I have had a look and I cant see a retro fit for this, but there is not that much to it, I will come back to it

Both part numbers appear to be current and valid numbers, according to the Inchcape site anyway.

Hi,
After a trip to MB the part numbers above were both superseded and they never got back to me regarding price and availability.
Recent trip to Mercman (www.mercman.net) who are just up the road from me i managed to get a genuine MB, brand new black auto dimming mirror, £70 fitted it yesterday it came with instructions on how, and it was just plug and play.
Works perfectly too.
If any one is interested in doing this to their CLK, E, and C class i,ll post the correct Pt. No.
Mercman I believe may still have other brand new boxed units.
