I have arranged a gearbox service for my 5 yr 68k miles S320. This seems a good investment to me.

The auto box specialist are recommending that this should be done every 20k miles which seems like overkill, what do you guys think?

2001 car so no torque converter drain plug, so you can only drain 4ltr. MB still say 'sealed for life'. I had mine changed at 104K, haven't noticed a difference but think it was wise. I think your auto specialist is trying to drum up business.

I think a lttle like you Mark at times, I like to change my engine oil at 6k its the cheapest insurance I can get, why not the gearbox at say 40-50k it does make them a little smoother, its mainly particals of metal that mess them up, so why not. Its interesting on the BMW forum where they are all changing the oil on their ZF sealed for life boxes
