Auto gearbox problems on 220 CDI - Gearbox sticks in 1st or

I purchased a brand new V Class 220 CDI 3 months ago and have had major problems with the auto gearbox.
On several occassions the gearbox has failed to change gear and stuck permanently in one gear. Despite a replacement gearbox this problem continues to occur.
Has anyone else had similar problems or experiences ?

I had this problem with the auto gearbox on my A class too.

Does the letter E appear on the dash where the number should ?


I had that a few times .....


Must have known when i was trying to impress women. It only happened when i had to be somewhere ....

Hi Sam,

I assume the vehicle has been into the dealers? If so and they have replaced the box. Have they check the ABS and traction control systems??
