My e320 1994 4-speed auto barely moves forward when engaged in drive. Engaging reverse works fine with the car moving backwards at a reasonable rate.

On the other hand my 300ce 1990 moves forward positively at about 3/4mph.

Is this normal behaviour for the e320 as i much prefer the behaviour of the 300ce? Is this adjustable or do i have some knackered tranmission bits?

cheers, dino

My 230e and 300ce behaved similar to what you describe even on a slight
hill. The revs increased when in P as they should.
I noticed that when reversing out of my drive (slight uphill), I have to
acelerate a little to get my SL 320 (v6) (5sp) to move, unlike the 300ce (4sp).
I thought it was just the 5sp box eletronics. Try yours on a flat surface. It
should move without revs. when you release brake.
