Hi guys

Pleased to be part of the forum.

Hoping some of you will be able to help.

My 2009 c220 has been in the garage, I got a warning on my dash saying 'auto lights inoperative' and my front wipers are not working.

The garage are at a loss as to what it is. Anybody experienced this?

Thanks so much

Hello and welcome,

Is the bonnet closed? Most Mercedes disable the wipers if the bonnet it open.

Is the screen clean? There is a huge amount of salt and road grime at the moment, this build up can easily disrupt the sensor at the top of the screen

Is you battery in good condition? (>12.4v at rest with engine off)

What garage are you using OP. More often than not run off the mill garages are OK for general maintenance work but isolating and diagnosing MB specific problems often is easier with an experienced MB indy who may well have seen the issue a few times and knows how to rectify.

welcome to the forum!

Update guys, not yet got it into the garage but the wipers sometimes work but other times I get the auto lights inoperative warning and no wipers, even manually. Heated seats suddenly stopped working. Nobody can seem to get to the bottom of it. So strange

Best get it to a specialist as mentioned earlier. A Merc specialist should be able to run a diagnostic and get to the bottom of this fairly easily. Sounds like it might be a sam module but without a proper star diagnostic it's just guesswork. A Merc independent specialist will be best and around half the price of a main dealer. Likely more knowledgeable too.
