Dear all,

I was reading how to activate the auto locking in the handbook, and I am slightly confused. Does the auto locking just lock the tailgate, or is it meant to lock all the doors?? I cannot seem to get it to auto lock the doors???

Any advise would be appreciated.

Regards

Darren

I would expect that autolocking should work on all doors and tailgate.

Just to confirm....Yes, once the vehicle reaches above approx 5mph all the doors including tailgate lock automatically.

Thanks for that, I have followed the manuel, it states turn the ignition on and hold down the lower side of the lock switch on the central switchgear for 6 seconds then release. I have done this a few times I cannot get it to work.

Another problem O:((

Turn the ignition to position 2, press the "upper" section of the central locking switch and hold for approx 6 seconds.

You guys seem to know the ML270 central locking electrics. I have a new problem on mine. Central locking system will not operate with Infra Red key fob at all. I open car manually and drive off - after 5mph (or is it 10??) the doors try to lock - all doors lock but driver lock shuttles 4 times - then a delay of a few seconds and then 4 more shuttling moves of the lock mechanism then nothing - it stays unlocked and in the up position. The other doors stay locked. When I stop and get out other doors dont unlock as normal and I have to use the console switch or the key manually.

Is it likely that the driver door doesnt make a contact saying that the door is locked. Would this disable the IR keyfob? Whats the easiest way to diagnose? Do I take off the door panel and inspect - looking for corroded switchgear ?

Its probably a problem with the actual lock mechanism inside the drivers door not 'latching'.......the 'machine gunning' effect is the lock making several attempts to lock..........you'll need to strip it out to fix.

Do you know how the door panel removes safely? I can get most of the plastic pop rivet catches free but i dont know how to go further. Will a haynes manual explain?
