Autobox Sluggish Gear change

CLK 230K Coupe 1999 T:
The gear change seamed to be very sluggish and reluctant to kick down once given the boot this morning. Could it be a gearbox oil issue (change required)?

The temperature through the night was down to -5c. Would this have contributed?

Very hard to tell what is happening until the working temp has been reached due to the cars locking up when cold
