Hello Everyone,
I had recently had my dash out performing a repair on my (W126) 1987 420 SEL. When installing the center console I decided that now would be a good time to replace the wood trim that surrounds the floor gear selector. The piece that was in it when I purchased the vehicle was just lying on top and was never fitted correctly.
My problem is that the gear selector is too far forward about a ¼ to a ½ of an inch. I looked at an exploded view of the gear selector and it shows that it is held in place by 4 screws that are accessible from the passenger area but the holes are round with no slots to allow adjustment.
My question is does anyone know if the gear selector is adjustable? And if so, do I just have to loosen the 4 screws because the holes in the transmission tunnel are oblong to allow such an adjustment?
Now, I know why the old one was just lying there!
