Automatic G/Box

I have a 1995 C Class petrol engine auto. Today i suddenly lost all forward movement in all gears, but still had reverse. Any ideas what could be wrong and what is required. It also sounds expensive. The earliest I can get it looked at is 2/1/07. Have checked the oil and it is ok with no sign of leaks under neath.

Where abouts in the country are you, so somebody can recommend somewhere local? Dealer charges for this would be.......excessive.....

Sorry to seem pessimistic but it sounds like you have lost a forward clutch or a brakeband anchor pin has sheared, which I'm afraid is a rebuild job. Maybe a breaker is the route to go if that's confirmed - around £200 + £40-ish carriage from 'Mercman' or 'Mercland', then the fitting, ATF and VAT.
