Hey guys,

Just wondering about this tool.. It seems cool (And expensive). It also seems like it could possibly be everything I may possibly need for electrical troubleshooting.

I don't seem to have needed it yet.. but I am going to be embarking on overhaulling and modding the looms in my Clio soon and feel this could be useful? Would it be fair to say that that this tool (paired with knowledge to use it) would help figure out electrical issues quickly.

Perhaps there could be a cheaper alternative available as I know Sealey often seems to be on the expensive side of things.

EDIT: Or perhaps this simpler tool, will perform most of what the above does. i.e. Not a scope. https://www.sealey.co.uk/product/5637193588/6-24v-auto-probe-with-48m-cable

If you're wanting to diagnose properly I would recommend a Picoscope. They do a special automotive version but the bottom of the range 2204 is usually more than enough. It's half the price of that Sealey jobby too.

Have a look at this guys channel for some good vids on putting it to use https://youtube.com/c/MechanicMindset

If you get really adventurous the pico can even decode CAN and SENT protocol. Also it has a logger SW for doing longer recordings of signals which can be really handy.

Thanks SuoerNoodle

I came across them alright. What kind of money would you be taking?

To be honest, I'm not looking to get into all the CAN stuff if I am honest.. I just want to be able to fix wiring/electrical faults.

I think I paid £129 for my picoscope.
Allow a set of leads (around £10-15).

Not used it yet other than to test it works.

I’m fairly sure I have some old school CRT silly-scopes around here somewhere if anyone’s interested :)
