Hi I wish to change waterpump and viscous coupling to the car - so I may as well change the belt and also this belt tensioner however looking at GSF parts they quote the following parts

DRIVE BELT TENS PULLEY
DRIVE BELT TENS BODY
RIBBED BELT TENS ABSORBER

Also do W202 cars use a ribbed or toothed belt it looks toothed to me?

please can someone clear up which ones I need I would rather change the whole lot while its being done.

TIA

The W202 C180 uses a ribbed belt as do all modern Mercedes as far as I know.
If you want to change the whole tensioner unit you will need all the parts listed ; body, pulley and shock absorber.
Please put your car designation with your signature then people will know which car you talking about.
Cheers,Geo.

Thanks for the reply, yes my mistake for not having a signature, its there now lol - so I shall just get the whole lot as the car makes alot of sound like bearings grinding (waterpump)? its on 86k so may as well get it all done, but this sound is only when idling not when driving.

Thanks

Take the belt off & spin each thing in turn to find what's noisy - could be an idler, waterpump, alternator, aircon compressor, etc

Replacing things just in case is a great idea in theory but in practice it gets expensive. I'd prefer an 86,000-mile part to a new one from GSF any day

I replaced an idler on my W124 at 205,000 miles. I changed the waterpump as a precaution... when I took it out it was perfect
