Hi and nice to read so much upon new membership.

Anyways, to business.

i have a 1991 300te24 and like so many other posts no aux fans currently. As I understand it the reasons for this could be:

1. Relay
2. Thermostat
3. There knackered!

Are there any other reasons? I am going to try the relay next. car runs cool (50ish) until stationary then rises to 90ish but no fans.

Would appreciate any opinions.

Thanks in advance

Sound as if your thermostat is needing replaced as your car should run roughly at 85dec and the eletric fan kicking in around 100 dec. if your is only going to 90 the fans wont kick in.

as 190D said, if the thermostat is stuck open then the engine struggles to get to normal operating temp (around 85C). With it stuck open the water will circulate through the full cooling system unnecessarily and hence running cooler. Surprised it doesn't eventually get hot enough for the fans though...

Thanks for that, much appreciated.

One question? In the absence of a haynes manual and not being able to find a diagram on the net, any idea where the thermostat is located? W124 300te24 (1991)

Again, assistance apprecated.

Many thanks in advance

Ops.

Is it in a different place than I said:smile:, I didn't mention the hose, as I presumed you knew that the water interupted the thermostat.:)

best of luck

PS: grease the screw threads before reasembly. Something got to do with steel alloy reaction. I think:Oops:
