Thanks Tony

Can you post a pic.

It could be the MB media interface.

Good to see you are still cracking on!

I think its likely it is

leads are available, you can get them with a nasty BT bit from china for nothing and go wireless

the module likes to go wrong, if you check ebay the modules magically are two a penny

I have a 2011 212 E350CDI. It came with a connector like Botus shows above but with a jack on the other end. There were 3 cables than fitted into the jack. The early iPhone connector, USB connector, & I cant remember the last one, possibly 3.5mm jack.
I have seen them advertised on eBay for about £30 in the past.

Thats right thats the MB media interface cables. But @Tony sirett his pic shows a connector with lots of places for pins in it. Has anyone a pic of the inside of the rectangular part of the MB media interface.

As a side MB now do a cable for the newer iphones.

Looks it.
Just be aware if you plug in a phone or MP3 player etc you can't use steering wheel controls to control playback. If using a memory stick it can do fast skip, replay, folder selection etc.

I found a strange tool recently which sounds mumbo jumbo that configures the stick's formatting to suit the car manu's software madness

A number of people (here just recently) but on Ford and BMW forums find the stick / car can frequently go it to met down and waste your life pretending its "indexing" the info on the stick so it shows in the car menu display and or you can control the music correctly. I had this on my BMW, a USB stick would sometimes play but hide how to control for a few mins or sometimes refused to do anything for a few hours in a random irritating fashion. You stop for petrol key out and it lost the plot or not 100% random.

I fixed it but configuring a 180gig ipod to take .wav files (setting buried deep in that awful itune interface) and it works 100% never a glitch or hesitation.

You have to download your contacts from the phone to the car, only need to do it once . The menu is on the cars phone section.
