Hi Guys, I have to go away for six weeks soon and I was wandering about leaving my Merc for so long 'laid up', so to speak. Is there anything I should do to her ('02 W203 c220 CDI Elegance) so that she will be just as reliable when I get back. Thanks in anticipation.

I regularly leave my car in a boat yard for similar lengths in the summer.

My recommendation, at this time of year would be a good wash out and under, followed by 20 mile drive to dry all, a re wash of wheels followed by short "brakey" drive to dry discs. aircon off on 2nd half of the 20 and later with the interior heater on full.

Leave in garage with dehumidifier on if somebody can turn off after a few days, or on a time clock.

The battery will not hold out 6 weeks, its worth getting a special tricle charger on a 203

I regularly work away for the type of periods you mention. I always take the car out for good run the day before I leave then, as Television suggests, stick it on a battery condition unit which is a little smarter than the average battery charger, car sits connected to the battery conditioner for the whole time I am away. The only other thing I do is make sure that the parking brake is not applied.
