A question for any Bodyshop men out there.
My CLK has spent a week ish in the Merc' approved paintshop, the wheel arch
lips were rusted and have been repaired/resprayed. Thing is where as before the lip formed a right angle, now the steel has been reformed into a VEE shape. This appears to be a wet mud/moisture trap....any thoughts on this?

sounds like they rolled the arch lips a bit , probably get bigger wheels on the car now lol , spray some waxoil into the 'V' will probably protect it , that areas a moisture trap regardless of being a 'V' or 'L' shape , wet dirt/mud still gets trapped. hopefully they treated the area

I have always found the wheel arch design strange on a MB where they can and do fill up with wet mud, do as Legoman say Waxoil them

Hi,
Both my c43 and 230k (w202's) wheel arches (front and rear) are exactly the same, a 'v' profile and they have never had the arches painted or repaired.
To be honest i thought all Mercedes wheel arches were a 'v' profile as Legoman says it enables bigger wheels to be fitted without the fear of the tyres fouling the arch and 17' rims were an option on nearly every model.

T212 facelift, 2013. A few toys including pan roof, 19" rims, Harmon Kardon, nappa, privacy glass.
Noticed the same on my T210. Every car I bought, first thing I do is soak the inside of the arches and then by hand and toothbrush pull hour 1/4 a bucket of dirt (great moisture trap!!)

Once done, I always hose the inside of the arches when I wash the car and with the water running pass my hand across the lip (make sure yours is not sharp) this will remove any new mud but will also let you feel for any rust bubbles and tackle early on before it creeps around to the visible paintwork.

I must have the cleanet arches in the South (Malcolm , I saw a dead bug on yours, so don'r try to cleim this title !!:lol:
