Luckily, badge theft has not made it to sunny Swaziland, but that didn't stop me being highly impressed with the retracting star kit that was discussed recently in this forum.

However, I have an improvement: a revolving badge.

Unless I hear a better idea, my badge will be spinning by the end of the month.  Currently the plan is for a small, geared-down electric motor on the ignition loop.  If anyone has any suggestions or advice (besides being wary of random lynchings from MB purists) they would be welcome.

Alternatively, you could just sit back and laugh at me.

Well on the subject of badges, I bought the said one on Ebay the other day and managed to fit it over the weekend. ;)

The result;  Now my badge operates on the remote and dissapears into the grill with a reasuring thud when I lock the doors and reapppears when you unlock.

The only problem now is I just cant help playing? I'd best order a spare battery for the remote now huh?

Hi Spike

I was wondering how you got on with the retracting star.

Do you think it would be feasible to reverse engineer and manufacture on DIY basis?

Yes, yes, very funny.  Mind you, a 'K' beater (if inverted) might come in very useful when cooking on the car engine.

Anyway, I need something to make the car worthwhile; after all, by this evening I'll have spent over 400 quid on it!  I mean, 450 Emalangeni (16 to the pound) for a simple exhaust refurb!  What will they think of next?
