Some Mercedes enthusiast has kindly removed my three pointed star from the top of the grill for me while parked up on Friday night. Does anyone know where to source a cheap replacement, (I've a feeling this will not be the last time...) and/or have any suggestions other than the obvious how to stop this form of badge fetish? Is this just the price to pay for having a quality car in the big smoke?

Cheers,

I have heard that they are only around a tenner from a merc stealership, made cheap for this very reason.

You can get replacement ones that fit flush to the bonnet, but i myself prefer the original style

I wonder if you could fit an extra ballast unit, (as used with HID high voltage xenon lights) and wire the output up to the 3 pointed star, thus when said scumbag tries to 'acquire' a new trophy he also becomes the path to ground... zzzZZZAP. Or perhaps the high voltage circuit for the spark plugs.

Yet another hair brained idea from yours truely

Hi

The high voltage scam from the HT leads use to be one of the first things a young apprentice was subjected too. Alas it know no longer. Something to do with the later ignition systems.Working with higher voltages.. Which can stop your heart. Especially if you have a pace maker.

Regards

Andy

LOL Andy  imho if a 'star burglar' has a pacemaker then he shouldn't go round nicking cars or bits off 'em ;) hehe

I remember when i was about 8 or 9, sitting in my dads Granada as he was tweaking under the bonnet. A crack noise,  a loss of revs for a second, and a cry of "Jesus that hurt"..would indicate that very thing happened to him.....Mildly amusing i have to say!
