anyone got any easy way to replace the wish bone ball joint. i've been told that the wish bone will have to be removed from the car put in a vice then knock in the new ball joint.
any help would be greatfully received.
thankx in advance.

You just beat them out with a hammer, a big hammer, the wishbones don't need to come off.

Remember the big hammer part.

The balljoint can be removed with the wishbone in place, all you need to do is support it underneath and knock it out with a hammer.....

It can be done on the car............i did one side on the car.............but had to take other wishbone off...........it just didn't want to go in................and i was using a real big darn hammer ;)

If you had applied some heat taking the old one out the new one would have went in with no problem as the metal would have been expanded with the heat..........

a knockometer (big hammer) will work ok.
if you have a compressor and an air hammer, ball joints, bushings, etc can be vibrated out and in pretty easily. use a lever to put pressure on the part you want out, and rattle the a-arm (wishbone) next to it. but never, never, never, (did i mention NEVER?) apply heat to suspension parts. it causes bad and exciting events down the road.

I got the old one out with no bother what so ever.............in fact one hit with a mash hammer and it went flying across the road.....lol..............the bother i had was getting the new one in..........after about 2hours of trying to get it in by various methods, including cleaning the splines it lines up with, ended up taking the arm off and hitting ball joint with 17lb sledge hammer to get it in........at least i know 1 thing............IT WONT FALL OUT:lol:...................
