Must be 2 post running on this one, the stalk is a prime suspect but the relays also could do it

What year is your Coupe? does it have an after market alarm system fitted?

Bara

so where are you in the UK??
The W140 CL has quite a complex electrical system, some items you expect to be a relay or fuse and it turns out to be a multi function control box that handles a variety of functions. The control unit I have in mind should be in the box behind the fuse box, I think the part number is 140 820 24 26, if you can find it and remove it, make sure its clean and possible have a look inside to be sure the joints are all good.

Just a thought, your CL has the pop up reversing points on the tops of the rear wings doesnt it, the seals on these are prone to failure and as a result water gets past them and into the boot. Might be worth looking in the boot to see if there is moisture in there, the rear lamp units can be opened easily have a look to make sure they are not damp or wet.
I had a bulb out light on my dash even though every bulb worked, I traced it down to a rear side light bulb that wouldnt fit properly but still worked.

Well if your anywhere near cambridge soon you can pop in for a cuppa while I take a look if you like.

problem solved

sorry its been a while
the problem was me i had put so many keys on the key chain that when i inserted the key into starter its weight caused a short and th eindicators would go loopy.
repaired by jamming a small clip in tumbler souround and ONLY USING ONE KEY
