BAS ABS Lights

Hi I have a 1998 C180. About six months ago the BAS ABS lights came on,they were on all the time,I fitted a new brake light switch and they were gone.A few days later and they were back on again.They are on intermitantly they can be off for hours or just a short time.I can work out no pattern to them. Any sugestions would be most welcome.

Possibly a faulty/dirty wheel speed sensor. I would first try to clean them. They are very simple to remove and clean.
