Bas/abs Lights!!

BAS/ESPand engine diagnostic indicator lights!!

I have got an 03 a-class 1.4 automatic.

Coming into my village late last night the ESP/BAS lights came one and I lost all acceleration. I managed to get nearly home at 20mph then I switched off the engine and it wouldn't restart! My husband came out to see and afer 5 mins it restarted but the engine diagnostic indicator light came on to!!! I got it home and tried it this morning but all the lights are still on!

I did leave the parking light on last night for 3 hours but it started fine when I jumped in - reading about low battery voltage - could this be something to do with it?

If the battery was too low when you start, this can upset the whole car.

Thought the car runs on the alternator, the low voltage faults are logged at the start.

It would be better to disconnect the battery and charge it, then try again.

Its always basics first.

Thanks we will try charging - do you think this would affect the engine light coming on too? That's the bit that's worrying me!!!

We do have cars where the light comes on due to low battery, quite a few this last couple of months. when the voltage is too low some of the ECUs try and compensate for the low voltage, only in extreme cases has it been necessary to have the codes cleared (once)
