bas warning light

aahhhh, more often than not this damn light apears on my dash and display just as i pull away after starting. i have no power loss or wheel spin and it wont go away. common problem? i have a clk320 (2000) pre facelift. can anyone help?

Are you sure that it is the BAS lamp, sorry to ask, your front tyres need to be roughly the same for wear. this normally happens after a battery change and cured by turning the wheels from lock to lock. there is a sensor on the front suspension, if you put up first 6 numbers of VIN I can check further.

hi,
i just bought the car (1 week ago) dont think the battery was disconnected, the first six no.s are wdb208365. when i do the lock to lock i take it the engine needs to be running?

Yes it needs to be running

You could try turning the wheel with the ignition off :rolleyes: :cool: :p

OK should be just a stop lamp switch that needs to be replaced, it will have fault code C1025 stored the switch cost under £10 and very easy to fit.

the CAN bus is not communicating with spin wheel.

aha, sounds good at £10. can i only get this part from mb main agent, and how do i go about fitting it? please treat me as an idiotic alien who has never seen a car before!

At the most 3 wires and one 17mm nut. (not you)

ok. thank you both for your help. but before i go..... what about the lowering of my car by 30mm ish. is it an expensive job? i know the springs are around £100-150 but what should i be paying someone to do it?
