hiya......i purchased a week ago a 1996 E300 DIESEL NON-TURBO..AUTO
i decided to change oil,oil filter/air filter and fuel filter......all went ok till fuel filter ,changed pre.filter and main filter (FILLED WITH DIESEL BEFORE FITTING)....i could not find a bleed for the fuel filter anywhere ....so kept turning engine over till battery started getting low ....so got another battery connected with jump leads and after nearly flattening that as well car started........ On dash it came up ENGINE BATTERY...which went out after a minute or so, l drove car around for 20 mins stopped and it started ok (no warnings on dash) so i left it thinking it was ok....started it a few hours later drove about a mile stopped at t/lights car cut out ENGINE BATTERY appearred again turn engine over a few times and battery died....towed it home put battery on charge (12 hours connected to car) then tried to start car, engine turns over fast but car will not start and..ENGINE BATTERY appears on dash along with TRACTION (as far as i know it has not got traction.........no swithes etc)........any ideas please
