Hi ,
does anyone know if the battery can be drained through external factors? ie power units overhead cables telephone masts or power generators etc? Im not sure how but it makes the alarm sensors or immobiliser work overtime thus killing the battery, is this possible as it may explain my current threads.

Thanks

Rajinder.

How is it possible for overhead cables to drain a battery? The only way your alarm can be working overtime is by sounding the alarm or flashing the lights. Your car has obviously got a problem which is draining the battery, have you had the electrics checked and also the alternator been checked to make sure it is charging the battery because while driving the car the battery should not become flat if your alternator is putting out the correct voltage.

AS Ian says your car is not influenced by external factors.

In this case the only way a check can be done on battery drain is to join up the ammeter before the connector is removed from the battery, thus leaving the circuit intact, if the battery is disconnected without the ammeter the leaking component cant be found or checked.

I Had bought a car that had a similar problem and found eventually after lots of investigation that the power amp on the stereo sytem had been wired in with ign and pos both being perm live and would suck the battery to death if left for two or three days without a good run
