Battery failure

V new to this forum and to MB ownership in general. Got a 2000 C 250 and have got a flat battery. Can't get boot open to get battery out/jump start. Told that there should be points under the front hood - found the small matchbox sized compartment (top right of engine), flipped up the lid and sure enough found two points - problem NOW is, I don't know which is +ve and which is -ve. I only need enough power to open boot at mo as I have a new battery on its way.

Would appreciate some guidance.

I think they are both +ive. Best thing to do is use a multimeter to test.

On my E class the post in the box is positive and there's a brass earthing post attched to ther bodywork nearby.

Even if the connections under the bonnet do differ from my E class. At least you know that the post in the box is positive, so you just connect the negative to the bodywork or engine.
