it'll have been 3 weeks with no use by the time I get to run my 116 again this coming weekend- is the battery likely to have discharged too much to start it again... I checked it before I left it last time and it was showing a good charge (12.46v) but I'm wondering if I should expect a flat battery by now?

With a good battery you should be OK, the alarms and locking vary car by car,but in the MB service there are many threads on flat battery as car was left unlocked in the garage.

thanks Malcolm, hopefully it should be ok as the only thing it has to run in the 116 is the clock...

I bought one of these recently - no idea yet how effective it is, but I figured it might be a very cheap solution ;)

You could not find a safer way to keep the battery topped up, even if the car is in the garege, the wire is so thin, it would pass through the door.

You would need to add a special socket to plug it into, as our are all dead when the key is off.
You couls put one in the window, if parked at an airport.
