Battery Malfunction C350e (w205)

Hi all, I've changed my star to the light up emblem and connected it to the fuse box. Upon starting the car, there's an error message that says malfunction with a red battery symbol on the dashboard. Any help is appreciated.

Hi ..! Bought 2016 C350e last month and exactly the same malfunction appeared couple of days ago. Just wanted to know if u got it sorted coz really seen people crying over this that once they get this it costs them over £6K. So kindly reply if you have sorted it out.

I suppose you could say the same about illuminated door handles & sill plates. It was good enough for Wolseley

Hi, Aqueel, I have exactly the same problem with my C350e/2016 for a couple of months now. drove to MB service two times, first time was told not the problem of battery, upgraded the software, second time told could be the problem of hybrid battery and waiting for confirmation from it.

I had a mid 70's Wolseley six that had an illuminated logo fixed to the centre of the front grille, great car, like riding around in your living room

they made that illegal in the end and they had to be disabled - pretty sure it still is to this day, I thought I came across it checking something about LEDs in construction and use regs.

11.—(1) No vehicle shall be fitted with a lamp which is capable of showing a red light to the front
except– (b) a side marker lamp or a side retro reflector;

but had it been on the side rather than the centre it would be ok ???




FYI as a huge wind up for LEDaphobes !!! for NO good reason I can think of, the MOT failure for running nasty bright illegal bulbs on motorbikes has been lifted..... https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/special-notice-01-21-headlamp-conversions

ive since learned your meant to wire these straight to the battery and not to any other electrics .

i could but im not gonna. i think those are useful .

I would disconnect it and see if message goes, if it does you know why.
Perhaps you would have been better off taking a feed from the side lights for it, or running a fused supply from the battery to a switch inside then back to the light, and switch it one when you wanted to.
