Battery monitor on starting engine

Hello to all.
Can anyone tell me if a battery monitor was fitted to 300 24v SL's?
This would be the type that if the battery was low would stop the starter from turning. My one is a 1991 vintage. If it has one fitted would the starter turn and then dissconnect , or are they that fast that the starter would not turn at all? I know some newer cars and motorbikes have them fitted,could anyone tell me when Mercedes started fitting them?

The starter on your car is a standard starter with solinoid. there is no low voltage device on you car or any 129 right up to the end in 2001.
