Spent a couple of hours cleaning my car today looks great but I went to start it but wouldn’t start just clicked and nothing I called my breakdown company and they were round in half an hour, the guy jumped it and started straight away, he said give it a run and all should be good but I’m concerned that in the morning it won’t start. Now I’d rather buy a new battery and have the reassurance that it will start every time, should I go to the likes of Quick fit and get them to check the charge and if need be buy a new battery. I’m not like some of you guys who can do repairs etc yourselves so I’m in the hands of the ‘professionals ’ All I can do is hopes it starts in the morning..
Any advice?

Sold My Mercedes
I had a similar issue with an old car of mine, I put the key in and went to start and like you the car clicked.. However also the wipers, lights and the instrument cluster just went into crazy mode. Apparently the lack of battery power was sending the car's computer into meltdown. I changed the battery at a local motor factors and it was fine after that. I learnt my lesson not to buy another Peugeot ever again haha!

I suppose if you know someone with a similar car/battery could always swap and test it before you commit to buy, just a thought :)

Batteries hate this time of year, if they have any weakness these temperatures will show them up.

How old is the car / battery ?

Much older that 5 (ish) years i would be looking at replacing it , especially as it is winter.

Dont know if a new battery needs coded to the vehicle (my old CLS didn`t) , if it does then maybe a MB specialist would be your best bet as i dont fancy KF / Halfords / Budget etc being let loose on my car with a laptop.

Find a good respected motorfactors, auto spark or battery specialist & get them to test your battery ..... and go from there. MB will be expensive though I have bought a battery from in the past but I'm sure you'd get as good from elsewhere.

If you get MB Grangemouth to quote and tell them you're a member on here they give forum discount which can be quite substantial. Also only £5 delivery.

Thanks for all of your replies but I’m still don’t quite what to do, I guess I wait and see what happens tomorrow but I need the car to start every time I need it, I could go to a MB specialist or even an auto electrician but are they going to say just replace the battery? If I could guarantee that would solve the problem then I would be more than happy.
By buying a new stop start battery at £250 I might have a car that starts for a few weeks then the problem kicks off again

If you have access to power where you park then connect a battery conditioner when you park it up. They will maintain your battery in great condition for many months at a time. I do that before buying a new battery

I'd expect gold plates not lead in a battery for that price!

If you're not comfortable in testing and replacing a car battery yourself then take it to a reputable MB Indy, your breakdown tech demonstrated your car wouldn't start due to a discharged battery, an Indy will investigate why it was discharged and whether it needs replacing or not! I am recommending an Indy because you may also have a fault causing the drain on the battery and an MB Indy is best equipped to find it!
