I had a problem with my battery going flat a couple of years ago which ended up being the central locking pump unit never switching off. Prior to this being diagnosed I replaced the battery with a Halfords recommended replacement.

That was a mistake.

I never seemed to have enough power from the battery, if I left the headlights on for a couple of minutes without the engine running, flat battery in the morning. My own fault taking Halfords word for it.

I just bought a new Bosch 100amp heavyduty unit fron Euro car parts, not cheap but unknown to me until I bought it, has a lifetime guarantee.

The car loves it everything seems to work better, probably my imagination but the hot bulb light seems to go out quicker and the starter motor turns faster.

Moral of the story, don't buy cheap, Meredes cars don't like it.

Good advise - you only get what you pay for.

MB parts are not as expensive as you think its the labour charges and the oil per litre that are!!!

I have to agree with dougjoy, with so many electronics controlling the systems these cars need a healthy supply, even starting a car from cold on a weak battery can drop the voltage and cause numerous problems..so always go for the branded and warrantied battery.. Halfords batteries I always thot were ultra expensive..

The glow plug light on deisel engines, glow plugs used to be known as hot bulbs in ancient times when I was a boy.

Sorry for confusion.
