I was delighted when I bought my 'upgraded' W124 estate that came with a three year old Becker sat nav. I thought I could now navigate without my trusty old Tom Tom glued to the windscreen.
I live in the wilds of France and getting from village to village isn't the problem - it's getting from isolated house to isolated house. The Tom Tom is wonderful, guiding me more or less faultlessly.
By contrast the Becker is useless. Despite shelling out for a new CD of the specific region, not only does it fail to list almost any houses, it also omits some quite important complete villages. Is this normal? Or is it because the machine itself is not new? It seems strange that a machine costing considerably more than a Tom Tom doesn't deliver the goods.
