Hi All,
this is my first post here, so please be gentle.;)
I've been offered a free 190E by a friend at work, apparently "all it needs" are brake pads and rear wheelarch repairs. I can do the work myself.
Its an early 80's blue 190E 2.0 with 170,000 miles on the clock.

I like these cars as another friend had one years ago, and I remember the quality and good ride of the car.

Are the necessary repair panels available for the crusty wheelarches? and do you think its worth me saving it? I may drive it for a while and then sell. Are these saleable cars? Is it worth doing or should I let my friend take it to the scrapper?

many thanks!

Hi PorscheMorisJohn, welcome to the forum,

Pattern body panels are available although the fit is not always up to original, however the price is quite reasonable. I'm sure some of the many 190 members will come along with recommendations for suppliers.
It depends a bit on what you want from the car and how much you want to spend. Doing the work yourself will cut down the cost. I would check it over first and find out if it is going to cost you £££'s for things which may also be wrong. Again 190 members will be able to give you some decent advice.

Thanks chaps for your replies! There is no rush to go and have a look at the car as it still has a few months MOT.

any comments from 190 owners?? Brake parts seem cheap enough, but I've been trawling the web looking for rear wheel arch repair panels and not been able to find any. (I can weld and spray, BTW).

any further comments from 190 owners?? anyone done this particular job?

Thanks Nencrono, I'm actually just enquiring if new rear wheel arche repair sections are available and from where, how much etc .If none are then I'll have to make some upon the English wheel. Thanks for the E-bay link, but I don't trade on there.

Its not ideal to cut wheel arch sections from a scrap car as rust is likely to be present or starting between the lips of the wheel arch flange.
