being honest, what MPG do you get from your W124 300TE?

I'm looking at buying a W124 300TE and I'd really like the 24 valve.
But what kind of mpg would they give?
an average of 25mpg?

Cheers,
Matt

Now then, I got 24-25 on a run, 18 around town and God knows what when towing a heavy van. Don't do a huge mileage though, so was happy to live with all that. Incidentally, I found that Shell Optimax gave a useful improvement in mpg and an amazing lift in general performance and responsiveness especially when towing and/or going up hills.

They're great cars - go for it, and go for the 24 valve or late 320 if possible.

On my old E280 24v M104 engine, I used to get an average of 26mpg....28 if I was doing really well.

Most of my mileage was motorway, at 80-90mph with the air-con on.

I aslo had the same engine in my recently departed C280 and I used to get 30-32 mpg.....as long as I drove at 75-80mph without the air-con on.

If your thinking of a W124 E Class, try and get one of the later cars with the 24v M104 engine....lovely engines with a nice turn of speed....sound great as well :D
