Best code reader for w208

Hi guys new on here as the w208 is so old now is there a code reader that works well on this vehicle I have a 2000 clk 230 kompressor and wondered if anyone had any advice on correct one too purchase thanks in advance

I use an ICarsoft MB2 with a multiplex adaptor on my 129, 38 pin.

Carsoft (not iCarsoft) do a PC based code reader that works well. Have it for my 129 (along with the gold standard Star).

Not had any success with anything else.

Carsoft and Star yes.
That iCarsoft and adapter (which I've never tried) no.

It's the red adapter you need in order to diagnose more than just the engine.

Star kit comes with correct round adaptor socket, cable. icarsoft, v2 anyway, does not come with correct cable, no idea if that's, avail from icarsoft? You must enquire. Where are you.?

I am in chippenham wilts. A bit far methinks if you can't find closer I think there is a decent indy in, near Oxford.

Star will be Chinese clones unless you have very deep pockets.

They work OK tho. Prob is staying familiar with it and walking away for 5 min before pressing ENTER to change ANYTHING.

Needs to be the MB2, not the MBII. Decent results with it, current and historic faults, clears logs and resets things. I find it useful, just get an extension obd lead so you can sit in the car…

Yes.. have a chat to the people at “U.K. parts direct”.. it works on our three cars, ‘98 , 05 and 2019 models. Use the red multiplex adaptor on the 38 pin socket..
