- 2004 W211 E320 CDi Saloon
Hi, I recently purchased a 2004/04 W211 E320 CDi and I'm trying to establish which engine oil I should be using.
The VIN No. is WDB2110262A606222.
The engine is currently using Mobile 1 0W40 Supersyn. However, my local Mercedes Dealership says I should be using Mobile 1 5W30 ESP (low ash). I don't think I agree with this as the vehicle is not Euro 4, which I believe means it does not have a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) and therefore doesn't need a low ash oil.
My research suggests that Mobile 1 0W40 Supersyn is superior to Mobile 1 5W30 ESP, the latter being slightly compromised by less detergent/additives, necessary to achieve the low ash rating.
Am I correct to continue using Mobile 1 0W40 Supersyn, or is my logic flawed?
TIA,
Razoo
