Apologies I’m sure this topic has probably been asked before but it’s a fluid topic especially with tech advancing all the while.

I’m Looking to bring the audio on my W211 into the modern world; my essential requirements are for integrated (preferably Bluetooth) telephony with iPhone 12 however it would be very desirable to also have the integration for my music apps and playlists, adding Sat nav would be nice too but is not so essential.

Having read up a little I understand that replacing the audio 20 with an Android head unit is an option, but I’m wondering just how good are they? I don’t especially want low grade Chinese electronics with cheap and tacky looking facias that do a half hearted job reducing the sound quality and producing lack lustre sound… but then again I’m also aware that China do also manufacture some very high quality tech with the iPhone itself being made in China. Can anyone who has had an Android unit fitted comment on their experience.

What about third party alternatives to Android head units like Pioneer, Sony, etc? Do the traditional audio tech brands integrate just as well and do they work with the cambus for steering controls etc?

Thirdly how about any options to integrate with the current Audio 20 or possibly upgrading to a MB Command unit?

Hello, If you have iphone why you do you want to take android route? I would suggest that you take a look at some units with apple carplay (alpine has a few with ilx series, they are expensive but if you have the budget), it should serve the purpose. Whatever unit you chose make sure that it has the biggest screen available that can fit in your car. Others may disagree but that's my advice. Good Luck.
