best place to find new or used head

my friend has just bought a merc sprinter van its a 311 cdi w reg 2000 he did about 500 miles and the head has gone
he has been told its cracked and WONT weld(stitch or whatever they call it) so is in need of a new or second hand head
would one off a cdi car fit if he can find a write of etc
or does anyone know of any company's that specialise in the van side of mercs
