Have decided to get rid of my 2001 CLK 320..unfortunatley the cost of petrol and the fact I have to shoe-horn my daughter into her car seat in back has made me decide to get rid of my pride and joy.

Question is - where is the best place to sell a car?

Hello

I sold my 330 bmw convertible as you should have seen me trying to get the baby seat in the back !! Just over a year with the ML I havn't looked back, so much room its ACE.

I would use Piston Heads with LOTS of pictures (they are free..) and list everything about the car. Millage, owners, tax, mot, service, colour, spec, etc

That way anyone ringing is usually generally interested.

Use AutoTrader.co.uk for a guide to what it will fetch, try Piston Heads and then the AutoTrader.

Good luck, what do you have in mind to swap it for?

cheers

Despite it not being what it was once (with scammers and 'professional' now the mainstay) I still see eBay as a cheap way of getting a HUGE audience. Never failed to sell what I wanted to on eBay yet for the price I wanted. Admit that an expensive Volvo took a couple of goes before it went but the advertising rate on a classified advert was a cheap rate IMO with no selling fees added at the end.

only downside with autotrader is that I got inundated with calls from other advertisers trying to sell me their services, getting up to 6 calls a day. They were very hard to get rid of. If you do go with autotrader (its a great resource and I've bought my last 2 cars through the site), I hope you don't have the pestering I got as a seller

If you are aiming to get another Mercedes (E class?) why not at least try for a good part ex price. So much less hassle.

My bike is on autotrader and it's been a pain in the bum. Even wording the add to say no canvassers, and using Autotraders secure phone number system I've had about a dozen calls from these helpful agency to55ers.

I'm with Hawk. Part ex your car at a dealer and remember that it's only the cost to change that matters, nothing else. It's the easiest way and carries the least risk of being stung privately.
