I have a few registrations and the one currently on my car reads my initial and middle name. I like it hence bought it, if someone doesn't like it then what do I care? If someone doesn't like my car then again who cares? We all have a choice to drive whatever car we like and have whatever registration. So why do twats such as the chavplate.com man have such an issue with them. As long as there easily readable I'm all for them.

Each to our own, Personally I cant see any real reason for having a private plate and when I see one I smile as its usually the car I am looking at and admiring.
If I wanted to draw attention to myself (which I don't, especially the old bill) I would have the car done in a fluorescent paint job.
But its up to the individual, what one does with their money is up to them.
I suppose its what makes us all interesting individuals.

The Cherished number plate is probably the best investment one can make.Better than interest on savings and endownment policies.My friend bought a plate 15yrs ago,the same time i aquired mine,he paid £350 for it and sold it 2yrs ago for £4,ooo.My other friend said he would rather have a gold bracelet than the plate .....so yes ,each to his own.But if you're after making money they are a good investment.It's incredible how much i have been offered for mine

I don't have a private or altered plate,therefore no axe to grind.What does it matter about slightly altering the plate.As has been said ANPR will still read it,and IMO the vast majority of these make the reg.No. easier to remember,and so,easier to trace should the vehicle have been involved in any illegal activity.

A mate of mine when I lived in Oz had a Triumph motorbike. Over there, you can make up a number and pay a modest fee to register your vehicle with that number. Anyway, he wanted T 555 but it had been allocated. So at a bit of a loss he asked for FU 2 and got it! Only a small fee upfront and another fee each year to keep it.

Plates of that type are quite expensive to "buy" from the Dept of Transport. $3500 to $4000 is the go in Queensland.
If you ask for a more normal plate like mine IRS40, it is only a tenth of that price. As you own the plate, there is no ongoing "plate fee" that is charged on normal plates, so if you live long enough, you will get your money back.

Some may recall my post/thread re the number XXX. I thought our son said it was on a Merc but talking about it again the other day, he said it was an Audi. He works in the sqaure mile and sees a lot of flash cars. His mate told him when they saw it again a few weeks ago, poss a Dubai plate, car shipped over here for one of those rich guys, car was all black and chrome and black wheels.
