E300 Diesel...now with less dents!
Seeing as the old girl is about the hit the 150,000 milestone I thought it was only fair to try and spruce it up a bit.

I picked up one of these clay bars for just under £12 online as I had seen them advertised in a couple of car mags with the advantage that you can lubricate them with water rather than needing special liquids.

I'm impressed, the 200g bar is enough to do your car half a dozen times according to the manufacturer and they suggest cutting it into 4 pieces. The quarter piece I used did my whole vehicle and still has plenty of life left in it, great value for money.

Its really easy to use, kneadable and removed a lot of visible marring as well as leaving the surface glossy and glass smooth.

Now I just need to get a smaller car so it takes less time!

Is car polishing and waxing something that you enjoy!

Now buy a dual action polisher and spend all day machine polishing then machine waxing the car.

Hard work ish, but it does make a difference and the protection lasts quite a while............washing is then easier and if you use the Megs Quick Detailing spray to remove the odd mark after each wash to car always looks good

which way round do you do it? clay then machine polish or machine polish then clay then hand polish? im hoping to paint my wheelarches etc soon and after painting im thinking of machine polish using a mild compound to blend as well as possible, then clay then polish, either by machine, hand or both. what do you advise?

Clay first, the clay removes surface contaminants that have bonded to the paint, stuff like brake dust or tree sap. Get rid of those bits and pieces then polish it up nicely
