Hi, i'm a paint sprayer by trade, you can either try using a cutting compound such as Farecla G3 or if that does'nt work try using some 2000 grit wet & dry paper (use it wet) then polish it back up using the G3. If your unsure a local bodyshop should be able to help you.

Just to add to Roadrunners post Autosol is a safe product, but with all of these things do not use excessive finger pressure or you will make a trough

How about T-Cut

Sparingly applied T-cut should also bring the mark out, although avoid using too much or applying too much pressure.

2005 C270CDi Avantgarde Estate. Bought 2005, sold 2022.

My daughter a metallic black Seat Ibiza and that had a huge splodge on the bonnet.
T-Cut wouldn't touch it, but Autoglym Paint Renovator made short work of it. It's a bit scary compared to T-Cut, though!

Someone in our club here in SA had the exact same problem... The stuff he used is called 3M Imperial Hand Glaze. (Google it)

It is a bit pricey, but works like a charm! Give the car a good polish, and then apply the hand glaze... It brings back that mirror shine!

Also good for paint where you find "spiderwebs"...

Really worth it! :)

clay is the answer

detailing clay is designed to take this type of contamination off the paint without hurting the paint or the clear coat - you can buy it from halfrauds

If you are a bit worried about usiong T Cut and or similar cutting compounds you could try BRASSO, it does work, it is a much finer cutting polish, should remove your stain. I do not know your location but if you are near to a coast beware of Seagull droppings, apparently they have an acid in the Cr*p that can eat into the paint if left to long.

Clay and a polish - T-Cut will work perfectly well but you might need a finer polish to remove swirls it leaves behind - Meguiars Scratch-X for example.

Halfords have a 3 for 2 offer on at the moment and should stock everything you need.

I wouldn't recommend going anywhere near your paint with wet & dry unless you've done this before.

One you use wet and dry you remove the orange peel and the texture will look very different on that patch

Orange peel on a Mercedes? Surely not? Unless it's had a respray due to rust or accident, so yes a fair chance of orange peel. I use a 3 M finishing compound, apply with a soft damp cloth and rub in a backwards and forwards action (not circular on a dark colour) once the product begins to break down and gets some heat into it it should remove the mark without causing any damage and once weathered shoul be un-noticable.

I've yet to see a new Mercedes without some orange peel in the paint.

Yes as stats, every car left only sprayed has orange peel, hand flatted and polished is something else and something that I used to do once
