...to notice the nearside rear shock of my W208 CLK320 sport has the damping properties of a colander! Anyone replaced the same rear units on the same car as mine. If so what make, where, rough cost etc.

Sorry to hear about your SL suspension agg. In the motorcycle world we have numerous shock building specialists, I'm beginning to think about having some bum basic units made for the rear of my CLK -- I tried searching 'shocks' as suggested, but either I was too knackered to see results or I'm just too dumb...
