How much smoke is expected when you kick down and accelerate hard in 1st or 2nd. I know that in most cases the smoke is due to over fueling & the result of un burned diesel, but could it be something more sinister?
Depends how you drive. If you've been drifting down the motorway for 50 miles, and then boot it, you'll get a cloud of soot. Perfectly normal if thats whats happening.
To get maximum performance from any motor you've got to get as much fuel/air mix into the motor as possible so with a diesel in particular that will take it towards smoking. If you've been running the car at "normal" type speeds for a long time and you suddenly floor it in first and second gear I would expect to see some smoke (black not blue) for a start you're certainly dislodge soot from your exhaust system. I'd just use the car and keep an eye on the situation
P.S. You could check you're air filters not getting clogged
