Hi

My radiator developed a leak where the built in expansion tank is joined to the main body of the radiator so I have replaced the radiator. My concern is that the coolant system capacity is 8.5 litres but I've only been able to put in about 6ltrs. If you are standing at the front of the car looking at the radiator, the large hose to the left (driver side) does not seem to be getting hot. Is there an easy way to bleed the system. I do not have access to a workshop manual.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

have you ran the engine till she gets hot and let the temp valve open to let the water flow trough the engine just keep an eye on the dash tempeture gauge if its gets hotter than usual turn off engine once this temp valve has opened you should be able to fill up more dont forget anti freeze

I probably haven't run it for long enough to let the temp valve open! I was worried I might cook the engine before bleeding the system properly. I will take it a drive and watch the temp gauge. I have used the correct water/anti freeze mix and will carry some extra with me to top up if needs be.

Thanks for your response horgantrevor

That Should Be Perfect But Let The Engine Cool Down Before Topping Up As The Rad Cap Will Blow Off In Your Hand When Hot And Spray You With Water A Half Hour Or More Should Be Enough

Good Luck
