I have a 300 TE 2.8 1993
I changed the expansion tank because it was cracked. I flushed the cooling system by putting a hose to the pipe coming of the bottom of the expansion tank.
Then filled the new tank and refilled the system with MB coolant and water 50/50.

The car now gets hot at times, not redline and makes gurling noises as well as spits coolant out the overflow causing the low water level light to come on. I topped it up a few times and somtimes the top hose is sucked in when I stop. Also if this makes sense I only get hot air our of the Left hand of rhe 2 centre vents when heat turned on.

The fellow I bought parts from says airlock in system . how do I get it out?.
Regards
Andrew

Best way i found was to face the car up a hill and pour the water in slowly making sure you have both heat controls at the warmest position then start the car and let it run for a short while without the radiator cap on so the air releases. Hope this helps

My E280 suffered a similar problem to yours when I had the coolant changed.

The garage I used messed it up....I now do it myself.

Follow as 190 says and as he says make sure you turn your interior heater dials to max red. This ensures that the heating system is open. On my E280 the garage I used failed to do this and I got an air-lock and lots of gurgling every time I used the heater, which then only blew out hot air.

Also as you are filling the system do it slowly and ever so often give the top and bottom radiator hoses a good squeeze to get any air out.

Good luck

Some cars have plugs at the high points which you can unscrew to let air out........about 20mm diameter....follow the line of the coolant pipes from the engine and around to the heater from inside the engine compartment and you may find some. I have not checked the Merc but have had them on quite a few other cars.......
