I have a 2001 W208 230K and I have a problem with the heater blowers. I have checked all the fuses and found no problems and am now unsure as to where to go next. The dash switch panel all works fine except the blower dial.

I have been told it may not be the switch but could also be a resistor. Can anyone shed any light on this for me including the position of the resistor.

under the passenger side dash, remove lower trim, there you will find heater box, remove the cover and there you have fan and regulater, reg would be the first thing to change, test the motor by putting 12 volts on it!!

to test the regulator there will be a 3 pin plug on it the two outside pins are the live and earth the centre pin is the switch from the control panel this will change from 0 volts when off to about 5volts when switched to full if you are getting this then it is most likley the resistor as they are very common. also make sure that the fan is not siezed.
hope this helps
