Hi all,

I have a 1995 C220 sport, just recently the blower stopped working, on checking the fuse (30A) it was blown, so i replaced this only for it to blow again a few minutes later. In the few minutes it was working, it was fine, blowing the hot air through with no strange noises and the blower worked on all settings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated cause its a bit chilly at the minute, and i'm reluctant to stop and replace the fuse every mile or so ;)

Cheers,

Mango

I would in the first place take the motor out and check the condition of the carbon brushes. then do a current check while it is out

Thanks guys, the diagram really helped, still not sure what the prob was though; I removed the motor, blew it a few times, checked it turned ok then just refitted the lot, replaced the fuse and seems to be working fine now. I'm not complaining though, and thanks for the help :)

Have a good look at the fuse & fuseholder and give them a good clean with a Scotchbrite pad

As the fuse corrodes it tends to heat up and the plastic holder melts & sinks under the pressure of the spring at the other end of the fuse. Eventually it sinks enough to fail and you have to wire in another fuseholder

This is all because the fan pulls lots of current and, as the sleeve bearings wear away, it pulls more current

The fuse went again on the blower, so I replaced the motor and yet another fuse, which seemed to work ok for about a day or so, then blew the fuse again! The fuse connections are all clean, no rust, so I'm at a bit of a loss to work out why it keeps blowing the fuse?
